Preview Cromatic buys Screen kit for high-volume play
Design and repro business Preview Cromatic has made its foray into high-volume print after investing in a Screen Truepress 344 digital offset press, a move it anticipates will help it bring 70% of its print in-house.
The Stevenage-based company opted for the Truepress 344 to offer "improved quality and service" while helping it better manage the print jobs it was previously outsourcing.
The press investment follows a period of organic growth at the company and is housed in its new 372sqm Preview House site operating alongside a range of large format and digital kit from Canon and Xerox.
Zenon Baynham, joint managing director or Preview Cromatic said the Truepress 344 further has helped the 10-staff company, which specialises in design and repro, further expand its print offering.
The company handles jobs for a variety of clients including local councils, publishing houses and the toy industry.
Chris Coughlan, joint managing of Preview Cromatic, added: "We have converted around 70% of our outsourced work on to the Truepress. It allows us to deliver a much improved quality and service to our customers while at the same time increasing our margins."
He added the company has already produced an A5, 4pp job of 40,000 copies on the new machine while also doing "lots of runs of 1,000-3,000 copies" in a 16pp format.
