Making Impressions sets sights on increased turnover with Heidelberg Anicolor
Making Impressions is aiming to grow its turnover by £1m and broaden its agency client base after investing in a four-colour Heidelberg Anicolor press.
The Yateley, Hampshire-based firm will be promoting the new SM 52-4+L Anicolor machine as a short-run machine in a bid to convince its customers of the benefits of litho over digital.
The six-year-old company focuses on work for agencies and anticipates the litho print quality will attract jobs to the press and help increase turnover at the £2.7m firm to between £3.5 and £4m in 2008.
Making Impressions managing director Richard Bond said that some agencies that use digital "are not entirely happy with it, finding that in some instances the paper cracks or the finishing is not up to litho standard".
He added: "This is the first press I have seen with a real ‘Wow!’ factor for a very long time. I am seriously impressed by its speed and the fact it can makeready with only seven or eight waste sheets."
Bond told printweek.com that the new Anicolor "will effectively be doing two jobs for us. It will roll out the day to day jobs and also carry out some extra work when our Speedmaster SM74 is nearing capacity".
The all-Heidelberg house has also taken delivery of a Suprasetter S74 platesetter running Saphira chemical-free plates, which the firm anticipates will help in its push for ISO 14001 accreditation.
Bond said: "We've really grabbed the environment issues by the horns. We expect to be accredited next month, then it's on to being FSC-certified".
Making Impressions employs 30 staff and also runs a two-colour Printmaster QM 46-2, a five-colour Speedmaster SM 74-5LX as well as a raft of finishing kit including a Heidelberg Stitchmaster ST100 and an EBA guillotine.
